On October 22, 2023, The New York Times reported on an Israeli website that exposed LinkedIn users who posted support for terrorism after the October 7 attack. The article quoted attorney Guy Ophir, who oversees the site.
The Website
Anti Israel Employees (originally named Terror Supporting Detector) was launched days after October 7. It collected LinkedIn posts expressing support for terrorism and grouped them by the authors’ employers, so that their employers could become aware of them.
LinkedIn’s Cease-and-Desist Letter
LinkedIn sent the site a cease-and-desist letter, claiming its content had been collected from the platform by automated means, in violation of its terms of use. The site then moved to an Israeli domain, and its ownership was transferred to attorney Guy Ophir.
Our Position
Ophir argued that LinkedIn users are mature, educated people who should bear responsibility for what they write in a public forum.
Coverage
The case was covered by The New York Times, The National and the Israeli media.
